Hey Isaiah, so excited to be chatting with you 🙂 What inspired you to pursue a career in acting?
After watching the movie Dark Knight.
You are well known for your role on the hit HBO tv show True Detective. Can you explain the process of how you got this role?
I did an in person audition.
Can you explain the show you are on & the character you portray?
The show is a drama mystery. My character is Henry Hays during 1990. Henry is the son of Wayne Hays, who is played by Mahershala Ali. Wayne is a detective in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Young Henry wants the attention of his father and a protector of his little sister.
What’s an average week like on set for you?
I usually worked during the afternoons, a few times in the morning. I would eat breakfast/lunch first, then go to wardrobe, next go to hair and makeup. Next, I would do schooling until called to set. After working on set, I would take a lunch break, then back to work. Once wrapped, I would have dinner at base camp.
Did you want to be an actor when you were little, or did that develop later on?
Yes, I decided I wanted to be an actor when I was in preschool.
Are their any other projects in the works you can tell us about?
At this time I’ve been meeting with a few directions for a few projects.
What’s been your favorite acting role and why?
My favorite role has been for a voice over role. My role as Tata in Didi and Friends, because you can do voice over in your pj’s and house shoes.
What are your friends and parents thoughts on your career in acting?
They are very supportive. The best cheer group I can have.
What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?
To be successful in what ever I choose to do and stay focus.
What would you say has been your biggest accomplishment so far in your career?
Landing a role on True Detective.
Overall, how has this whole acting career experience been for you?
At times, things can get busy. But overall, it has been a blessing. I thank God for leading me on this path.
Do you have any advice for anyone trying to make it as an actor?
To stay focus, have patients and be determine. It takes a lot of work, but have faith in yourself.
Your voice also can be heard on the new kids series DiDi and Friends. What led you to start doing voiceovers?
I didn’t want limits on what I can do. I heard so much positive things about voiceovers, I thought I give it a try.
Do you want to do more voiceovers in the future?
Yes.
