What inspired you to pursue music at all?

I grew up with my parents always playing music in the house so I was always exposed to different music. I remember dancing and singing along to whatever song came on and feeling complete bliss- I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since. I’ve wanted to do music for as long as I can even remember.

What led you to decide to try out for The Voice?

I never wanted to do a reality show because people go on there for fast fame, but their talent scouts had been reaching out to me for a while and my dad always loved the show so I figured it could be a cool experience.

What was it like being on Team Pharrell?

It was amazing to get to be in the presence of someone as amazing as Pharrell. I learned a lot and I’m so grateful for the experience.

How would you describe your musical style?

I would say I ultimately make pop music but with different combinations of singer-songwriter and R&B. I grew up in Atlanta so I have a huge appreciation for hip hop/R&B but I also mostly play guitar so I combine what I know to create music people can relate to- pop.

What artists do you look up to right now?

SO many! There are so many amazing new artists out there right now because music has become so much more accessible. Right now, I really look up to Maggie Rogers because she’s established such a cool sound and is an amazing writer. I also love Khalid and Travis Scott’s new projects. All time, I would say I look up to Prince- he is the ultimate musician.

Your new single, “Lose Myself” has gotten an amazing reaction from your supporters. What has been your thought about the reaction of the song?

I’m so grateful for all the people who support me and listen to what I create. It’s so humbling and exciting to have people react to your music because I make music for people to relate to and it means the whole world to me when people actually do!

How did the idea for this song come about? & Can you tell us the meaning behind the name “Lose Myself?”

“Lose Myself” was a collaboration in the studio. It’s about making sure you don’t lose your way in a relationship (or any situation) because that can be so easy to do.

What’s the process of writing one of your songs?

My writing process is never the same. Sometimes I’ll find some cool chords I like and then base a melody off that. Other times, I’ll just be in the shower or out running errands and a melody comes to me that I’ll record into my voice memos in my phone. That’s what’s exciting about writing songs, it’s always kind of a surprise.

Can we expect any new music soon?

Yes! I’m currently writing and recording a bunch of super cool new stuff that I’m SO excited to share!

Are their any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

Mainly just working on my EP! I’m constantly writing new songs which is super fun for me.

How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?

I’m just so grateful to have people that want to support me. My relationship with my fans should be authentic and genuine because without them, I wouldn’t be anything!

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?

I use Instagram mostly!

What’s an average day for you look like?

It depends on whether or not I’m recording. When I’m in the studio working, I usually wake up early and go for a run, then prepare whatever I’m going to be working on in my session that day, and then head to the studio until night. Days when I’m home, I spend a lot of time writing songs and looking for inspiration wherever I can find it- spending time with friends, going to beautiful places, and living life to experience things fully.

What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?

I would just like to play my music for as many people as I can and always make music that is completely authentic to me. I love touring and getting the opportunity to reach new audiences so I definitely want to do more of that and I also would love to release an EP sometime in 2019 which would be super cool.

How has this whole music career experience been?

With anything, there are ups and downs. Ultimately, I feel so beyond lucky to pursue something that is so special to me. Everyday I get to do music is a complete and total blessing.

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you SO much for supporting me! I’ve got new stuff coming your way and I can’t thank you enough for caring about what I create and what I do.
