Even though Taylor Swift’s 1989 tracks “Blank Space” and “Shake It Off” continue to hang out out on the Billboard Hot 100, the singer has shared the new music video for “Style,” the third single off her record-breaking fourth LP. While the first two 1989 videos were more lighthearted affairs more attuned to Swift’s playful side, “Style” is a different beast, showcasing Swift in a darker, more abstract, light.

The music video for “Style” finds Swift and her paramour literally picking up the fragments of their on-again, off-again relationship. Throughout the video, Swift and her man are haunted by memories of each other – the lyrics also nod toward a similar conflict – before the pair is ultimately reunited before the video fades out.

The song is one of a handful reportedly about Swift’s ex-boyfriend Harry Styles of One Direction. It’s the most obvious Styles-inspired song based on title alone, with Swift even joking to Rolling Stone, “We should have just called it ‘I’m Not Even Sorry’.”

The “Style” video, which was cleverly released during New York Fashion Week, leaked just hours before the video was set to debut on Good Morning America; Swift quickly uploaded an official version to her own Vevo. According to Just Jared, Kyle Newman directed the “Style” video and actor Dominic Sherwood portrays Swift’s love interest. The site also notes that an airplane necklace that Styles had gifted Swift is featured prominently in the music video.
