Directioners, you are going to need to sit down and grab some tissues. It is a very sad day in the One Direction fandom. It is with a very heavy heart and tear-stained cheeks that we must inform you all of the untimely passing of Louis Tomlinson’s mother, Johanna Deakin. She passed away early Wednesday morning after being diagnosed with a very aggressive form of leukemia earlier this year. Johanna’s leukemia was belligerent and required continuous treatment. She was just 42 years old.
News broke early Friday morning about the passing of Johanna, and ever since, there has been lots of love pouring in from all around the world. Fans, family, even former bandmates showed some love and support during this very terrible time. Former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik took to Twitter early this morning to express his love and sorrow for the One Direction star and his family, saying, “@Louis_Tomlinson love you bro! All of your family is in my prayers. proud of your strength and know your mum is too x.”
One Direction bandmate Liam Payne also took to Instagram and Twitter to remind Louis that he is always there for him, saying, “Louis, I’m so sorry for you my brother my heart aches for you, just know I love you the same from a million miles away as I do right next to you. I’m always here for you through everything as you have been for me. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this incredibly sad time I can’t begin to imagine what you are all going through. Rip Johanna you are forever in my thoughts.”
X Factor UK judge Simon Cowell also even took to Twitter to show some love. In his tweet, he says, “Heartbroken for you @Louis_Tomlinson. Your mum Jay was an incredible person. Sending you all my love.”
Johanna’s husband of five years, Dan Deakin, wrote a statement about his wife saying: “Johannah was first and foremost a truly amazing mother to seven children – Louis (24), Lottie (18), Félicité (16), and two sets of twins, Phoebe and Daisy (12) and Ernest and Doris (2) – whose individual talents and success are testament to the principles and beliefs she instilled in them.” The tragic statement ends with, “She was also an incredibly proud grandmother to Freddie.”
When asked who was the biggest mommy’s boy in One Direction, all of the boys point to Louis, as Louis points to himself.
As of this moment, Johanna’s family and loved ones haven’t said too much on social media as they take the time and try to process what the last few days have been like.
The last picture Louis posted on Instagram was of Johanna and him on November 18th. The caption was “My mother looking gorgeous before the Brit’s earlier this year. I love you and miss you so much!”
What a tragic day. Directioners have been getting lots of love and support from other fandoms’ as well, including Beliebers saying that it will all be okay. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain and heartache they must be going through at this moment in time.
Please go and send lots of love and prayers to Louis and his family during this awful time. So close to Christmas and so close to Louis’ birthday. He needs all the love and support that he can get right now. Please do me a favor and go and hug your mommy’s. Tell them how much they mean to you and never take a single day for granted, because you really don’t know what tomorrow will bring.
