So excited to be chatting with you. You’ve been busy with music recently. Can you tell us what you’ve been up to over the past few months?

Pumped to be chatting with y’all as well! Thanks for having me. It’s been a crazy few months. So I launched my artist brand, basically telling the world “hi this is me I’m an artist named dnny.” I dropped my first single February 21st, which has just been so well received which means everything to me. I was super nervous about getting vulnerable and putting a piece of who I am out into the world but it’s gone better than I could’ve ever imagined.

Your debut single “villain” has a powerful message. Can you tell us the meaning behind the song?

For sure! So to me, “villain” is an anthem for being different and unique. We’re all weird, different, and quirky. That’s what makes us special. For me, it’s that I’m not the 9-5 job wear a suit and know how to fix cars type guy. But for others, the story could be totally different and that’s dope!

How did the idea for this song come about?

I just started talking about who I am with my friends when we were hanging in the studio, and the concept just kind of came out of that. Every record I write is a pure reflection of me, so really it just came about through me talking through my story.

What’s the process of writing one of your songs?

It definitely varies for me from song to song. I may have a concept or title that I love that I come into the studio with, and then we’ll try to shape around that. Or my producer may have some sort of dirty track or drum loop that we start building over and just figure out what the concept is based on the vibe. Or I may even have a melody in my head and we go from there. Music is such a beautiful thing because there’s no right or wrong, no one way to write a song or make a hit. So, it really depends on the way God throws it together.

Are you planning to release a music video for “villain”? (If yes) Can you spill any details about the video?

I’m putting out a fun little acoustic video I made! Just me and guitar fully stripped. I really like how it came out and hope people love it.

Any fun moments while creating the song?

Honestly, the whole session in the studio was a blast. My favorite session I’ve had. We wrote the whole thing in a few hours and were just vibing so hard it was insane. I enjoyed making the funny promo videos with my brother too, that’s my guy.

Do you have a creative say in your music and videos?

Oh of course. I love bringing in people to help me because I just want to make the best product I can.

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

Yes! Lots of singles coming out this year, definitely some videos too. I’ve got a big-time feature on my next song from a group that I’ve looked up to for a really long time. This next song I’m putting out to is my favorite record I’ve ever been a part of. I’m so excited to share it with the world.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists today?

It’s just a direct platform to communicate with insane amounts of people. I think as artists it’s our responsibility to use that platform for good. There used to be gatekeepers between artists and the world, but now we’re able to just go direct to consumer with the click of a button. I take it upon myself to use this as an opportunity to spread love because that’s really all the world needs right now.

Do you have any last things to tell your supporters?

I love every single one of you that’s supported me in any way, means everything. And stay tuned, we got big big things coming through the rest of 19!!

Thanks for taking the time to do this interview!

Thank you guys so much for having me, much love.
