Which artists’ styles do you love most?
I really don’t follow fashion so much. But I would say that I like Beyonce’s style. Her style exudes power.
Is there a song that brings you to tears?
I have two songs that bring me to tears. They are songs that I have written. “I Told You No” and “I’m Not Ready”. They both stem from painful personal experiences.
What is the most meaningful song/album you’ve ever written?
The most meaningful song would be “I Am” and the most meaningful album would be my latest album “Where Do We Go From Here?” Both took some time to write and they are very meaningful to me.
What is a musical piece of work that has made a profound impact on you?
Stormy Weather by Lena Horne. This is the song that inspired me to go into the music business. It’s not easy to sing and it is beautiful.
What is a cause that is near and dear to your heart?
The female empowerment movement is dear to my heart. It seems that we are always fighting for our rights. I think that women are beautiful and strong. We should be seen this way.
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Early on in my life, I was quite shy!!
