Hey Kendal!! So excited to be chatting with you. You just released your stunning new single “Bodyguard”! Can you tell us what this song means to you?
This is the third single I’ve released off of my upcoming EP, and it is the first single I’ve released about heartbreak. Bodyguard is about disappointment: someone promises to protect you, but that promise winds up being completely hollow.
How excited were you to finally get this song out into the world?
This is the first ballad I’ve ever released, so I was really excited to see the reaction! Ballads have decreased in popularity over the past few decades, and it really is a wonderful, passionate genre all its own.
Will there be a music video for your new song?
I have some ideas, but nothing concrete yet!
Where did your love of music come from?
I remember loving music from a really young age. I loved to sing along to the radio with my mom! I truly feel like my love of music came from myself. I can’t imagine life without it.
Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists today?
Social media isn’t only important… It’s CRUCIAL. Social media is a direct link to your fans, whether it’s posting videos, music, interviews, or even just chatting over Facebook and Instagram Live. Social media keeps your fans informed about what you’re doing and at the same time also grows your network.
How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?
I want my fans to feel like they know me! Being an approachable artist is something that means a lot to me.
What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?
Right now, it’s a tie between Facebook and Instagram. I’ve been doing a ton of Facebook and Instagram Lives recently because of the shutdown, and I’ve gotten to “talk” with my friends and fans every few days during the performances. The IG TV option on Instagram is also great to post longer videos to the Instagram platform!
Do you have any other release plans for 2020?
I plan on releasing the next single later this year, but I haven’t decided which one.
Do you have any last things you’d like to tell your supporters?
It gives me such joy to play for you all, and I love you for streaming my songs and watching my online shows.
