Hey guys! So excited to be chatting with you again! Hope you’ve been doing okay during these crazy times. Can you spill any fun tips to keep your supporters happy and productive during this time at home?

It’s definitely been a crazy time! Some things we’ve been doing to keep ourselves busy have been writing songs, trying new recipes, reading lots of books, watching movies, and hanging by the pool! We’ve been working a lot, but also taking time to enjoy the summer!

You just released your new single “We Were” & it’s awesome! I love it!! How excited were you to get this song out into the world?

We’re so excited that it’s finally out! We wrote it back in 2018 and it’s gone through a lot, so now that it’s out, it feels unreal.

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

This song was written after one of us went through a breakup with a first love. It helped me reminisce about the good memories while also being honest and realistic with myself about the relationship. It was the first full song we wrote on guitar, but later changed to piano by Josh Mathews, who played beautifully on the track.

Will there be a music video for your new single? If so, can you tell us about the concept of the video 🙂

There are plans for a music video in the future, right now the concept is developing, but we’ll have a lyric video out very soon!!

You also have more music coming out in 2020!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to this summer?!?

We have a few songs that we’ve been holding onto for a while. We aren’t sure exactly when they’ll be coming out… but they can look forward to that! We also just started a new project that we will be sharing more about soon!

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

We write most of our own songs. We love collaborating and writing with other artists, but we always have creative say. Creative control is something that is very important to us and we’ve been very lucky to find people that respect our ideas in the writing process.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

Our family has been supportive every step of the way, as well as our fans and friends. The support we’ve been receiving these past few months and weeks has been crazy and has helped us stay so motivated during these times.

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

The love and support we receive is incredible. We are so lucky, they’re constantly telling us songs they would love to hear us cover or places they would love to see us live. They really interact with us on social media and we’re so grateful for that!

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

Kind, supportive, and VERY funny! We get comments and DMs that make us laugh all the time! We get the sweetest messages, too.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

We would say, always stay strong in whatever you are going through. We hope to write music that can help people, by writing music they can relate to…letting them know that we could be going through that same thing too! Especially for “We Were” because it’s a breakup song that will resonate with so many people. At shows we want them to have fun and get lost in the music with us.

Are you planning any livestream shows to promote your new music?

Right now we don’t have any livestream shows planned, but we’ll keep our website www.kellyandkat.com updated if anything changes!

What is it like performing in front of your fans?

It’s an experience like no other, it really is the best feeling in the world. They’re so supportive and it makes us so happy to look out into the audience and see people dancing and singing along to the music we wrote. That has been the hardest part about the past few months, since we haven’t been able to perform at live shows, we really miss it.

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

Never ever give up if you have a dream, always be yourself and hard work always pays off!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

We started singing at 5 years old when we began musical theatre. And we are not twins! Even though everyone thinks we are.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Everything!! They really have allowed us to accomplish anything and everything with their support.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

We’re super friendly!! Come say hi!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

There are so many artists in the business that inspire us, whether it’s their vocal techniques, stage presence, or writing style. We would love to meet Jessie J, Kehlani, Sasha Sloan, Ariana Grande, and John Mayer.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

Social media is so important to connect with people and create relationships. It’s also become a necessary business tool for promotion and collaboration. We’ve met so many amazing people, all over the world, fans, other musicians, producers, and artists of all types, including @claygrfx on Instagram who designed the amazing cover art for “We Were”.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

Our biggest dream has always been for us to be able to tour the world and share our music.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

We hope “We Were” can help you during a breakup the same way it helped us!

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this interview!

Thank you!! We had so much fun, we always love catching up with you! XO Kelly & Kat
