Hey Jalen! So excited to be chatting with you! Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well, my name is Jalen Parker, I’m an 18 year old recording artist, singer, songwriter, dancer and actor. I grew up in Savannah, Georgia and moved to LA some years ago to peruse my dreams. Some people may have seen me in Lifetime’s Dance Moms , Disney XD’s Clash Of Carts, Better Things on FX, Straight Out of Compton, and a few other projects.
Where did your love of music come from?
When I was younger, I started singing in the church. Around the age of 3, I developed a passion for singing and performing. As a result, my parents started to motivate me in those areas which then pushed me to become a better singer, and performer.
What artists do you look up to right now?
I look up to so many different artists it’s crazy! From the Legends, Michael Jackson, Prince, Whitney Houston, Jackie Wilson, to Chris Brown, Shakira, Drake, Bryson Tiller, James Brown, Brian McKnight, Keke Wyatt, Brandy, the list goes on!
Your new single “Quarantine” came out today! How excited were you to get this project out into the world?!?
I was extremely excited to release “Quarantine”. It’s such a relatable single, especially during this pandemic. Everyone wants to get out the house and see the person they like, love, or just to see friends. This song kinda just puts things into perspective for those teens out there who can’t see they’re significant other due to the pandemic.
Can you tell us what this song means to you?
This song means everything to mean. I put my heart and soul into every single record I create. I try my best to create not only content that I love but content for everyone else to enjoy as well.
What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?
I hope all my supporters love the new record, and I hope they can all relate in some way!
Any fun moments while creating the song?
Funny enough the idea to write a song about the quarantine, was originally a joke. I was FaceTiming a good friend of mine, and we were discussing how difficult it must be for couples that don’t live together and etc. Then the idea sprouted!
Will there be a music video for your new single? If so can you spill any details about it?
Honestly due to the worldwide pandemic, I have no idea. But hopefully, I want to get one out!
What other release plans do you have for 2020?
I have a huge project coming out soon. It’s an album called “Divergent”. “Quarantine” is the first single off of the album. The album is about diversity, everything is different, from the normal songs I would write, to my mentality! I can’t wait for its release!
What do you hope your supporters will think from hearing your new music?
I hope my supports see growth. I work my butt off day in and day out to improve my pen, content, and the quality of my music! My main goal is to always create a record or project that’s better then my last!
Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?
The last thing I want to say to my supporters is, thank your riding with me, watching my growth, and inspiring me to be better. If it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t be the artist I am today!
