GRANT KNOCHE Talks With TMI About His New Single “EMOTIONS”

Hey Grant! So excited to be chatting with you! You’ve been busy with music recently, can you tell us what you’ve been up to over the past few months?

Hey! So excited to be talking with you guys! For the past few months I’ve been in studio working really hard on my music and some upcoming exciting projects. I just released a new song today that I wrote & produced myself called Emotions. I’m so stoked that it’s finally out for the world to hear!

Where did your love of music come from?

When I was about 7 years, my parents saw me dancing around the house and felt inspired to put me in dance classes! I was trained in Hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, contemporary, modern, etc. and I feel like that’s where my passion for music started from! I was taught to hear the musicality and move to it and that is what sparked something in me.

You just released your new single “Emotions” today & I love it!! What do you hope your supporters will think of the new song?

I know! Can’t believe that it’s finally out! It’s so weird cause I don’t think that it’s actually clicked in me that it’s out for everyone to hear! I’ve really put my heart and soul into this song and I’ve spent so much time perfecting it to the vision I had! I hope that everyone will love it as much as I do!!!

Can you tell us the backstory of this song? Is it from a real experience?

I’ve always thought that life is to short to live with negative and unwanted emotions. Emotions is about facing reality and getting rid of the negativity whether it’s in a relationship or your everyday life!

You also have more music coming out in 2019!! Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to this summer?!?

Yes! I’m so ready for everyone to hear the upcoming music! I am excited to have multiple songs in line after Emotions for everyone to hear. I’m a huge fan of diversity and I easily get bored if something is the same. So I guess y’all can expect a little bit of everything with the new music!

Do you have a creative say in your music? Did you help write all your new songs?

Having a creative say in my music is such an important thing to me! Music is about being vulnerable and giving yourself to the music and there is no way to give 100% of yourself if you don’t have creative say. With all of my music, I have 100% creative say and that such an amazing thing! I actually produced & wrote Emotions 100% on my own! I’m also producing and co-writing my upcoming music as well!

What’s it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

Releasing my own original music is so fulfilling as an artist! It’s my passion & it means a lot to me. Emotions is my third original that I have released after Downpour & Unfair. It’s such an awesome feeling to be able to share your music around the world & hear the stories of how it inspires others. The fans support help fuel me to keep working hard & making the best music I can.

You also directed and edited the new music video for “Emotions”, how did you come up with the idea for the video?

Okay! So I’m gonna share my inspiration secret with you guys! Pinterest! That thing is crazy! Whenever I need any inspiration, I go on there! For Emotions, I saw a few photographs with lighting ideas and let my imagination do the rest!

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

YES! I want to give a huge thank you to my parents (Sean & Andrea Knoche)! They have been my #1 fans since day one and they never stop fighting for me! They have quit jobs, toured 48 states with me, & even moved out to LA to help further my dreams. I appreciate them so much more then words could ever say! I love them!

What do you think makes your fan community/fandom different from others?

Something that I’ve noticed with my fan community is that they’re so kind to each other! It’s so great to them start group chats together and support one another! I’ve even seen so many of them become best friends along the way!

How would you describe your fans? – what’s three words you would use to describe your fans?

three words?!? Okay here we go! Loyal, supportive, family!

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

The three things that I always say is to find your passion, be extraordinary, and to inspire others! Those three things are so big to me!

Do you have any preshow rituals that help you get pumped up to meet your supporters?

if running every song I’m about to perform through my head in a matter of 3 minutes is a ritual then I guess it’s that! Haha!

Are you planning any shows to promote your new music?

Yes! Working on a bunch of shows right now that I’m so excited about but I can’t announce them yet!

What is it like performing in front of your fans? Are you excited to start performing your own music live!?!

Performing in front of my own fans is such a crazy feeling! The amount of love and support that they project out is breathtaking! I’m especially excited to perform Emotions! From the first day I wrote it, I envisioned performing it on stage and I can’t wait till that day!

What do you want your supporters to know that you think is important?

Okay, I know this one might be overused but it means a lot to me. Be yourself! Everyone is so different and has their own finger print. Don’t copy someone else’s. Find your own and excel in it!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

I’m extremely goofy! Haha! When I meet a lot of people, they think that I’m gonna be serious but nope!

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

I’m gonna have to stretch this one to two words 😂 my dreams! Without my fans, I wouldn’t be able to live my passion & help to achieve my dreams. I am so thankful for them❤️

Many of your supporters are starstruck when they meet you. Have you ever been starstruck?

I don’t think I’ve ever been starstruck, but the one person who I would be 100% starstruck over is Adele! Pretty sure I would start crying… and I never cry lol!

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

Please don’t be afraid to come up and say hi to me! I’ve gotten so many dm’s saying that they saw me in person and were too scared to come up! Noooo! Pls come say hi! I swear I don’t bite!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Wow! There are so many people that I’m dying to meet like Max Martin, Julia Michaels, Ian Kirkpatrick, Oscar Görres, Lauv, Troye Sivan, Dua Lipa, Adele! The list goes on & on!

Why do you think social media is so important for teen artists like yourself?

For me, social media has its ups & downs! It definitely helps when wanting to connect with fans and friends! It’s so cool to interact with so many people around the world without physically having to be there! But, at the same time, I feel like social media puts labels on people without truly knowing them. If someone has 5M followers, they’re automatically held above others and valued more. This also comes into play with music. There are so many incredible artists who are musical geniuses but don’t have the social media numbers and are put lower down on the list, which is so wrong. That’s why I always try to support others and help them out! because I know that I was once in their same position of trying to grow a following!

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

Right now my biggest goal is to be vulnerable and real with my music! I really strive to give all of myself into every lyric, melody, and production choice! My #1 biggest dream is to headline my own stadium tour with fans screaming my songs! I think that would be so amazing!

If you weren’t doing music, what would you be doing?

if I wasn’t doing music I think I’d become a professional dancer! Dancing is a huge passion of mine and would be my choice if music wasn’t apart of me!

What’s your top three songs on your playlist right now? And why?

Top 3?!? Ugh! I always have the hardest time with choosing my top 3 songs but here we go!

Drugs & the internet by Lauv – I love the production on this one! it’s so different and i love the diversity within the song!

Lips don’t lie By Ally Brooke – This one is so freaking catchy! Been singing it so much lately!

Break my heart again By FINNEAS – This is such a beautiful song. The way it builds throughout the song and the progression is amazing! big fan of this one!

Okay I have do a 4th!

Good things fall apart – ILLENIUM & Jon Bellion – MELODYS FOR DAYS! the lyrics are so clear and the production is so clean! such a great song!

Okay I’m done!

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all of your support! I wouldn’t be even close to where I am today without every single one of y’all! I can’t wait for you guys to hear this upcoming music and I hope it’ll make y’all proud 🙂
