Get To Know Kolten Kirschke, a 13-year-old Up-and-Coming Pop Singer/Songwriter/Actor

Kolten you started your music career at a very young age, what inspired you to try music in the first place?

Music has always been a part of my life as a dancer, but singing for an audience never even crossed my mind until it happened. God called me to be an entertainer at a talent audition for AMTC. They asked me to sing in the audition, then put me through as a quadruple-threat to perform in Orlando, Florida for industry representatives from all over. To my surprise, I made it to finals and won the VIP Choice Award. Before I knew it, I was scheduled to sing in front of an audience of about 1,500 people. That day walking onto that stage for the first time as a solo artist I knew what I was meant to do.

How would you describe your musical style?

My music kinda has a trap-pop feel that ties in closely with my style as a dancer. Anything with aggressive beats and lots of motion allowing me to move as a dancer, is definitely my type of music. Love anything rap as well, so if I’m able to throw it in there even a little bit, we’ll add it!

What artists do you look up to right now?

There are many artists I look up to, but if I had to name one, it’d be Justin Bieber. At such a young age, he was under such high pressure, and put the hard work into every performance. Most people don’t see or understand the countless hours in the studio, choreography, rehearsals, and time away from home that goes into all this. It takes serious work ethic to do all he’s done; I admire and compare myself to it all at this stage in my life.

Can we expect any new music soon? If so can you spill some details about them?

Yes! You can expect lots of new music soon, but I can’t spill many details! I just finished my latest EP. I’m so excited to share what I’ve been working on, and I hope everyone loves it. Release is coming soon, and I will be posting more about it on social media soon.

Are there any other projects in the works you can tell us about?

There is always a project in the works as an entertainer! If it’s not with music, it’s with acting or modeling. Sometimes if the timing happens at the same time there can be more than one project to juggle and complete which keeps me busy. Right now, our main focus is getting started on creating music videos for the new music!

You also do a lot of cover songs as well. What’s the process of choosing a cover song for you to sing?

There are many cover songs to choose from, but one thing I’m always going to look for is a song I can dance to. As an entertainer, moving on stage is natural to me, and that will always be the first thing to look at when picking a cover. Other factors to consider are similar styles and a vocal range that fits and feels right. There are times when a song will take me out of my comfort zone, and a lot of work is put in to perform it just right, like Billy Jean by Michael Jackson. Music icons like Michael Jackson had their own style and unique sound so it’s work to get it just right, but so much fun to cover songs like his.

What was your favorite cover song to record?

“Mistletoe” by Justin Bieber will always be my favorite recording from when I was 10 years old. It was my  first cover to be recorded in a studio with my artist developer Christian Chavarria. Just the excitement alone is something I will never forget. You can still find the music video on Youtube today and know that it was my first recording.

What’s your favorite song to perform live?

“Children” by Justin Bieber! There is a story with this song as well. When Justin released this song it had all the key factors that were important to me as an entertainer and felt natural to perform. Every single mentor told me it wasn’t a song that would work as a live performance, but it was a song I was passionate about and it became my number-one live performance. You can also find the live performance video on Youtube- it was my favorite!

What’s it like for you to perform in front of your supporters?

It’s amazing!!!! This guy right here loves the stage. It will never get old,  and the more the audience screams, the more hyped it feels. It’s hard to describe the energy you feel doing what you love and getting love back, but it’s awesome!

Does your fanbase have a name?

Funny story! In the very beginning, two of my biggest fans on Instagram named my fanbase and started the first fan page. Jenna from Texas named my fans Koltenaters in a post on Instagram and Brooklynn from Missouri started the the first fan page and named my fans Koltenaters! Seems most fans like to add “-aters” to the end of your name so KOLTENATERS it is.

How do you want your relationship to be with your fans?

Close. Real.

What was the craziest fan encounter you have had?

Online you will see lots of crazy, but in person it’s been pretty great. Maybe just one time an elementary student put my fake tattoos all over his body and had me sign his arm in permanent marker- turned out to be an awesome picture.

What social media platform do you use most to stay connected to your fans?

Insta @koltenkirschke

Are you hoping to go on tour soon?

Man, if i I could, I’d start touring the world tomorrow! It’s a plan for the future, and a goal I can’t wait to reach.

What’s an average day for “Kolten Kirschke” look like?

Everyday is different and has to be flexible, but on paper it kinda looks like this: Gym, homeschool, music, vocal lesson, acting class, and dance private. Then anytime left over is gaming online with friends or streaming live on Twitch.

What goals have you set out for yourself in your career and in your personal life?

Career-wise my goal is to continue training as a triple threat, and inspire others. My personal goal is to always remain true to myself in this industry and take time for the small moments in life.

How has this whole music career experience been?

It’s just getting started and there is so much more to experience can’t wait!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years in your career and personal life?

Happy, working hard, training hard, and enjoying every minute of it! It’s hard to say where I’ll be in five years, but let’s just say, I’ll  hopefully doing another interview with Teen Music Insider!

Do you have any last things you would like to tell your supporters?

Some of you have been there from the very beginning, and some of you  I have just met, but thank you all for taking the journey with me. You guys are the best!!!
