Hey Liv!! We are so excited to be premiering your new music video!! How excited are you that this video is finally out into the world?

Excited is an understatement. “River” was a very special song to record, and I am so grateful to have done my own version and be able to put it out in the world. “River” is one of those iconic songs and I think the video gives a new perspective. It will be nerve-wracking at first, but after the first thirty seconds it is out I feel like then it is everyone’s video and every person watching is going to have their opinion and I cannot wait to hear it all.

Where did the inspiration for the video come from?

The inspiration for the video came from my lovely obsession with lights. I love string lights and respect anything that is not the typical lighting in a room. It was so funny when I talked to the director, Ryan Nolan, on the phone because he also has an obsession with lights and instantaneously knew the exact lights that would be perfect on camera and for the video, all while keeping the filmography relatively simple.

Any fun moments while creating/recording the video?

I started practicing with John Prentice, the guitarist, a couple days before, so that by the time we went to film, there was no nervousness and it was all fun for me.

I think one of my favorite moments was when I first walked in the room and saw all the lights on; it was so quiet, and so peaceful, and it felt like everything came together nicely and aligned with the picture I had in my head for the video. Another funny moment was when I told Sam, the makeup artist, that instead of doing the natural look, which I had originally planned, she could do a silver eyeshadow with a couple blues and greens. Her face immediately lit up and that’s how I knew she was going to have fun doing the video shoot as well. It is super important for me to make sure that everyone involved in creating anything with me is happy and having fun. I think if everyone around me is having fun creating it as well, it won’t feel like it is just another day at work. I want it to feel special for everyone involved.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new video?

I hope my supporters are open to this new, somewhat modern, interpretation of a timeless song – and of course I want them to love it as much as I do :).

What does it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It is honestly therapeutic. The reason why I write music is because I love creating music to cope with emotions. When a listener makes a connection to one of my songs it is the greatest feeling in the world because it is just a reminder that we are never alone and that we feel the same things through different experiences. Music has the power to unite all of us and hearing about connections people make with my music only motivates me to keep pursuing my dreams and releasing songs. My music is little scenes of my life or what I wish my life was like and why.

The best feeling so far has been reading emails, messages on social media, or comments on YouTube from people listening to my music, telling me that they like my music or that it is helping them get through something in life. I am still blown away that these are people listening internationally and in places I have not traveled to yet.

Do you have any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and listen to my music, hopefully it makes you feel something because then you had a connection, despite whether it is good or bad. Love you all no matter what that feeling is.
