With percolating beats, retro-fitted guitar and piano riffs, Liv Hanna’s new single and music video, “Grown,” Liv conveys an emotional maturity well beyond her 16 years of age.  Liv Hanna brings a melodic Pop/R&B appeal in a contemporary production setting showcasing her amazing voice, and uniquely talented songwriting prowess. With a broad range of artistic influences including, Amy Winehouse, Billie Eilish, Alessia Cara, and Sara Bareilles, “Grown” mines teen angst filtered through Liv’s sunny disposition masked in an ironically clever lyrical throwdown.

“The moment I realized I had to remove myself from a negative situation which sparked “Grown,” I felt I no longer had the support, understanding, and acceptance of those I thought I was closest with. I felt at some point everyone experiences a feeling of distance where relationships may no longer click, and we  forced into acceptance because we are afraid of change. The most challenging aspect in creating “Grown” was putting ‘pen to paper’ and realizing I was losing a big part of my life.”

Hey Liv! We are so excited to be premiering your new single and video. How excited are you that the song and video finally out??

I’m so excited that the “Grown” single and music video are finally going to be released. I worked so hard to create this. I’m so proud that it’s finally finished, and I’m able to share it with everyone!

Tell us about the concept of the single 🙂

The concept of the single is accepting where you are in your life and appreciating how all the hardships you’ve encountered have helped shape you. I believe it’s a common fear to leave behind something toxic because it’s comfortable. People often gravitate toward something being familiar rather than something being new and different. My song, “Grown” encourages to accept the that we are constantly evolving.

How did the concept of the video come about?

The concept of the video mirrors where my life is now. In the video, the visual elements switch between school and city scenes. The video illustrates my personal growth from being a peer influenced teen to expressing my individuality. “Grown” was a very cathartic process for me. The songwriting process helped release me out of a toxic situation in high school which I felt not escape from, and as a result, I gained the power to rise above that untenable situation.

Any fun moments while filming the video?

There were so many fun moments filming the video. It was one of the best days I’ve ever had!  My friends and I, along with my manager and videographer filmed in Chinatown, Greenwich Village, and on the NY subway. My favorite moment was shooting our change of outfits on the subway because we had to run on and off of the trains without it leaving for the next station!

Any other release plans for 2020? Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to?

I have so many exciting upcoming releases in 2020! The next singles to be released are “New You,” “Unordinary,” “Advice To Yourself,” and “King Princess,” and I hope to have my debut EP released by this summer! The most exciting thing to look forward to is the “King Princess” single  as it is very different from other tracks that I’ve written.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

They have encouraged me express myself without fear of judgment.

What do you want your fans to take away from your new single?

Embrace change don’t fear it.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

It allows me to communicate directly with my fans.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Don’t be afraid to grow and stay true to your inner voice!  Thank you so much for speaking to me today!
