Ava Connelly Chats With TMI About Her Passion For Acting

Hey Ava, so excited to be chatting with you! You knew you wanted to be an actor since the young age of 5. What would you say brought on your passion for acting at such a young age?

When I was a little kid watching cartoons I actually wanted to be one of the characters and when I would see commercials, especially for products my family used, I would make up my own commercials.  I would go in and make my parents stop what they were doing to watch whatever commercial i made up or scene that i thought up. I started that early, but by 5 I was old enough to start nagging my parents to let me be an actor!!

What is one movie that has greatly influenced your life?

Zombies 2 actually. It taught me to be who you really are and to accept people for who they are no matter how different they are from you. Addison a character in Zombies 2 taught others to accept the zombies and hey if they can accept zombies we should be able to accept others!!

What has been your favorite acting role to date?

My favorite role to date was in the feature film “Rattled”. Its still in post production so I can’t give away too much. I play young Addison, and it was a very suspenseful and my character is probably pretty mentally ill. I’m quirky so I love acting in horror  and suspense movies.

What would be your dream acting role?

For television I’d love a role on Gabby Duran and the unsitables.  I love the comedy in that show!  For movies my dream is a lead in a very suspenseful horror film.  I’d want Gwen Stefani in the movie!!

Do you have any projects in the works you can tell us about?

I’m not filming currently due to Corona virus pandemic but I have a supporting role in an upcoming film where my character witnesses the death of her uncle and has to deal with that tragedy.  I have 3 feature films in post production!

If you could have a gigantic billboard anywhere with anything on it — metaphorically speaking, getting a message out to millions or billions — what would it say and why? (If helpful, it can be someone else’s quote: Are there any quotes you think of often or live your life by?)

My billboard would say spay and neuter your pets and ADOPT don’t SHOP! So many millions of pets every year don’t have homes.  I hope one day to have a rescue like my Uncle Dillon who lives in Las Vegas.  He saves all kinds of animals. I’m so proud of him and how kind his heart is.

Something I say to myself is be kind because it’s free. I don’t have a lot of money, well because I’m a kid so I can be kind by giving smiles and hugs and they don’t cost anything!

What is an unusual habit or an absurd thing that you love?

I’m a tab obsessed with entomology.  I love bugs and like studying them.  I love to read about them.   I like to know their scientific classification and all the details I can find about them. I also have a neocardinia shrimp tank so I guess I love invertebrates too!

What advice would you give to someone who wants to pursue a career in acting? What advice should they ignore?

I’d say never stop nagging your parents for acting classes!  Then go to class and learn all you can. Practice every day. Write your own monologues and short films.  Have fun!  Ignore any advice that someone tries to stop you from going after your dream.  For two years mom tried to make me do other things like soccer and I just wouldn’t stop asking to be an actor. One day she said I give up and she started researching classes and got me signed up!!

Things to ignore – ignore negativity. Once someone said I’m not pretty enough to be on tv. I know I’m quirky but I like being me and guess what,  if we all looked the same it would make our world a boring place.  My mom says that all the time.  So it’s cool to be different and not be just like everyone else.

When you feel overwhelmed or unfocused, or have lost your focus temporarily, what do you do?

When I lose focus I know I need a break. I may just lay down and read a book. Sometimes I’ll do meditation.  I give myself time to veg out and then I am ready to get back to it!

What social media platform do you use most? Where can people find out what projects you have going on?

I’m not really old enough to be on social media alone. I have an Instagram that i like to look at and my mom lets me get on it with her sitting with me and I answer peoples comments and say hi to friends.  I love to see what other actors are up to and support them with likes and comments!

Any last things you’d like to tell your supporters?

I’d like to say “Thank you” so much for the kindness they send my way. The positive comments and feedback.   I’ve made so many friends in this industry and I love them all!!  I especially want to thank my mom and dad for all they do for me.
