Hi Amy!! So excited to be chatting with you! You just released your debut album Introducing Amy Jack!! How excited were you to get this project out into the world?

One hundred and fifty percent excited. I wanted to introduce listeners to my sound and this project was the perfect way for people to get a sense of my tone with the release of the album. Of course, having Merle Haggard working on the project was such an honor, and I’m hoping to honor his legacy as well.

What was it like working with Merle Haggard on this project?

He was fearless. He brought passion and creativity to the project, and he was always pushing me out of my comfort zone as an artist. His life revolved around music, and he knew the craft so well that I really felt like I could trust him and took every suggestion he made, big or small because I could really feel the care that he had for the project, he just poured his all into my album, and I’ll always be grateful for that.

What do you hope your supporters will think of the new music? What do you hope they’ll get from hearing your new songs?

I hope they’ll appreciate the message and know that I put my all into the project, learning from Merle to make the best album that I could. I hope that they could find some songs that inspire them or give them a chuckle, I just want people to feel a connection to my music, such as I’ve felt with so many artists before.

What does this album mean to you?

This album was a fulfillment of a dream that I’ve had for years. I really feel like the process of writing the songs and collaborating with so many incredible people left such an influential mark on my life. I was challenged as a writer, artist and friend to piece this album together and I’m so proud of it.

Can you spill any details on what your supporters can look forward to from you the rest of the year?

I’ve been working on new music and focusing on my writing. I was hoping to do a couple of performances, but it looks like that will have to be put on hold until 2021.

What does it feel like to be releasing your own original music?

It’s a fulfillment of my dreams, it’s what every artist hopes to achieve, and I feel so lucky to have been able to put together my original music with the help of such a talented team.

Where did your love of music come from?

Growing up, I was always surrounded by music. My mother was a music teacher and taught my twin sister and me piano when we were itty bitty. My father always had the radio on, playing classic country music. I think they both played a huge part in my musical journey, my mother teaching me the technicalities behind the music, and my father teaching me the pure joy and connection felt through music.

Is there anyone you want to thank that’s helped you get to where you are today?

I think my parents shaped my love for music, and my grandmother really demanded perfection in my music on the piano. She would not let me up until I had it perfect. She really taught me that you have to work hard for what you want, good music doesn’t just fall into your lap, it’s a process. But having a mother and grandmother that were music teachers, it made me realize that anyone can enjoy music and anyone can learn music. And of course Merle Haggard taught me so much during the course of writing and recording the album. They all helped me turn my dream into a reality, so I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without their help.

What do you want your message to be towards your fans?

My message is life is to be a decent human being. There’s so much going on in our world today, and I think it’s important to show each other empathy now more than ever.

What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

I want people to feel enriched and to gain joy from my music. There have been so many moments where I’ve felt sad or upset and simply turning on music completely shifted my mood. Times like that really touch me and I hope I can do that for someone else.

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

A lot of people don’t know that I’m a twin. I mentioned it in another question, but my sister and I would sing and play piano together growing up, and I think that really shaped my love for music.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

I’d love to see fans! I’m just like anyone else, I have the same needs and concerns as everyone else does, and I’d love to connect with some people who have listened to my music!

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Adele comes to mind. Her vocal power is so rare, I really look up to her and her music. I really think she’s an anomaly to modern music, and I think her music is such a treasure. I’d also like to meet Lady Gaga. She has such an intense passion for life and everything that she does, whether it’s her artistry or I’ve seen her acting too. They just seem so genuine, and I can sense that in their music as well.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?

I think that social media really empowers people. Now more than ever, music lovers are discovering new artists through social media, and artists really have the opportunity to show off their personality to fans on social media and build a relationship with them, which is such a special experience.

We are so excited to be doing a signed lyric giveaway with you! What message do you have for readers who hope to win?

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

I’d love to release more music and eventually go on tour to share my music with listeners.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

Thank you so much for listening to my music, it means the world to me.
