Hey Abby!! So excited to be chatting with you. Where did your love of music come from?

My love for music was very natural- it has been a part of my life since I can remember. At every family gathering, my cousins and I would put on a show and sing karaoke, pretending we were popstars. When I was young I was in the “children’s choir” at church  and fell in love with singing and performing. Today, I often help lead worship in our services, and that in particular is my favorite. There’s nothing like leading a congregation in song to praise the Lord. I am so grateful to experience that from the stage.

Can you tell us what your newest release “Deep Waters” means to you?

Deep Waters was inspired by friends of mine who were going through some difficult times. Even in the midst of that, they pushed forward, never giving up on God, trusting that he was with them and had a plan for their lives. I decided to write the song as a reminder to myself, that even when it feels like I’m all alone and drowning, I was going to trust God, relying on Him just like my friends did.

What’s been your reaction to your fans love for “Deep Waters”?

It’s crazy weird to imagine people listening to my music in the car.  (It still doesn’t seem real.)  I have gotten a lot of feedback saying that the song is very encouraging, especially with all that has happened in 2020. It’s so cool to have people really connecting with the message.  I could not be more happy that Deep Waters has turned out to be sort of a “light in the darkness” for people!

How excited were you to get ‘Deep Waters” out into the world?

I was ecstatic, I worked so hard and couldn’t wait for everyone to hear it! It was so rewarding to hear it on so many platforms, and reminds me daily that hard work pays off. I think it was God’s perfect timing that it was in 2020, it’s so relevant!

Do you have any release plans for summer 2020?

Yes, there is one song on the album I may promote and I am writing a ton. I have almost eight more songs done, ready to be recorded! I am having a hard time choosing the right one, but stay tuned for another original later this summer.

How do you want your relationship to be like with your supporters?

Very personal. I’ve never called them my “fans” before…to me we’re on the same level, all trying to make God famous.   I’m constantly checking myself, making sure I’m staying genuine and real for them. I want the person I am in private to be the person I am in public. They deserve it, after all they have done for me!

What’s something your fans don’t know about you?

I study, specifically the bible, a lot… to the point where my mom calls me a nerd and gets angry that I won’t watch Gilmore Girls with her.

What do you want your fans to know if they ever see you in public?

I don’t bite, I’d love to meet them!

What do you want your message to be towards your fans? What do you want your fans to take away from your music and shows?

As a Christian artist, I just want people to know that Jesus gave his life for all people, to save us, and give us an opportunity to have relationship with God.  His love is better than anything this world has to offer. Through my music and shows, I want people to find hope in the message I share.

What’s one word you would use to describe what your fans have allowed you to accomplish?

Perseverance. Every time I want to give up, I get a new follower, a new subscriber, see people listening to my music, or get an encouraging comment that motivates me to keep going.

Is there anyone in the music business you are dying to meet?

Tauren Wells, I aspire to groove like he does.

Why do you think social media is so important for artists like yourself?
It allows us to connect and share moments with our supporters that set us apart from other artists. It’s also extremely helpful when advertising and growing, especially for new artists like me.

What would you say is your biggest dream/goal right now?

Probably to win an award or perform at the Dove Awards. It would be such an honor to even be there, among artists that have the same ultimate goal as I do; spread hope and love through Jesus Christ.

Any last things you want to tell your supporters?

I cannot thank you guys enough, I wouldn’t be where I am without you! You are making my dreams come true. Also… follow Teen Music Insider!!
